IN THE ALTERNATING CURRENT TYPE THE VOLTAGES ARE USUALLY APPLIED TO A SPLIT-PHASE STATOR, WHEREAS IN THE DIRECT CURRENT TYPE, ONE VOLTAGE IS APPLIED TO THE STATOR AND THE OTHER TO THE ARMATURE.
